Here is the plan:
1. The date is Saturday, September 16, 2017.
2. Hope has been divided up into about 30 “routes” of approximately 70-80 homes each; some routes are a little smaller, others a little larger.
3. Someone will contact you about a week before and arrange to get you enough plastic bags with an attached flyer, route map and instruction sheet so you can deliver one to each residence in your route. You will also get some “Thank You” cards.
4. Attach bags securely to the door handle of each house (gets windy in afternoons); no need to knock.
5. Drop off the bags about 3-4 days before Saturday, say on the Tuesday or the Wednesday.
6. For streets that are on the boundary of your route, just stay on your side of the street. Someone else who has the adjoining route will do the other side.
7. If there is an apartment block in your route, ring or phone the manager (phone number at door or outside of building) and ask them to come and get enough bags for their building. We have tried to speak with every manager in every route and they all seemed happy to
help and will be expecting your call.
8. Skip any residence where you feel uncomfortable (dog, etc.) or just hook the bag on the gate.
9. Call or text us at 604-649-8067 once your bags are out so we know the route is done.
10. Then go back Saturday morning and pick up bags of food left on the porch after 9:30 am, leaving a thank-you card at the door for each bag of food.
11. Drop off the bags of food at the Food Bank, 888-3rd Avenue (NW Harvest Church) by 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm.
