Teaching

Associate Pastor of Teaching and Administration
“In a society in which entertainment and distraction are such important preoccupations, ministers are also tempted to join the ranks of those who consider it their primary task to keep other people busy…But our task is the opposite of distraction. Our task is to help people concentrate on the real but often hidden event of God’s active presence in their lives. Hence, the question that must guide all organizing activity in a parish is not how to keep people busy; but how to keep them from being so busy that they can no longer hear the voice of God who speaks in silence.” - Henri Nouwen
Adult Sunday School
Learn More In Depth
11:30-12:30, following our worship service.
In our Adult Class we provide opportunities for more focused learning about the Bible and what it means to live as a Christian in our current culture. We have a variety of teachers and the topics are different each year. Most classes run in a 3-4 week format and are advertised through our weekly online bulletin.
Each week we have coffee, tea, and some snacks available. Grab whatever drinks and snacks you would like and choose a seat. There are no assigned spots and we encourage people to pick a spot and get to know the people at your table.
Spiritual Practices
Engage In A Growing Relationship With Christ
What we do on a regular basis, our habits, shapes who we become. At GBC we believe that Jesus gives wisdom about regular habits we can engage in that help keep us open to what the Holy Spirit wants to do in us. We find these habits in the example of Jesus. In our Adult Sunday School classes or at times in 4 week evening sessions we have focused teaching on these practices. It’s an opportunity to learn from Scripture, take some time to engage the practice, and then come back and reflect in community on what God is doing in you through these habits.
