Who Do You Say I Am? The Beginning of the Good News… Mark 1:1-9 December 25th, 2016

“The Beginning of the Good News…”

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we
ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. (I Jn 3:16)

“The Beginning of the Good News…”
A. It is based on promises made in the past.

“Prepare the way for the Lord…”
A. It is about people in the present. (Comes in later)
B. God always “incarnates” the message. (Comes in later)

At that time Jesus Came…
A. Who was and is and is to come. (Comes in later)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things
were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before
all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the
church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything
he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in
him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things
in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. (Col. 1:15-20)

The good news of Jesus…the good news of Christmas is just beginning.

We prepare a way for Him to live in and through us.

And then Jesus comes to the world around us.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought
to lay down our lives for our brothers. (I Jn 3:16)
